Emergency manager honored; county reports full EMPG compliance

At the Oct. 22 meeting Jason York of emergency management announced that Gregory "Greg" Dean received the Certified Kentucky Emergency Manager designation and reported that the county is 100% compliant with the FEMA Emergency Management Performance Grant (EMPG).
York described the certification program and said the designation is rare in the state; he noted approximately 37 certified individuals statewide and that multiple certified professionals are in the county’s district. York emphasized that EMPG compliance is performance-based and that the county meeting the grant’s specifications means continued funding for the coming year.
The court joined in recognizing Greg Dean with a brief plaque presentation and a request to photograph the occasion. York also summarized that EMPG requirements include a detailed work plan, training milestones and quarterly reporting; he stated that Greg’s compliance helped ensure the county’s continued eligibility for the grant.
No operational changes or additional funding requests tied to the EMPG were recorded in the meeting minutes beyond the certification announcement and the compliance status.
