Board approves Dynamic Fitness weight-room bid, Duet furniture and 2026 '7 caps budgets

Onalaska School District trustees voted May 11 to accept vendor bids for Phase 1A of the high-school renovation and to adopt the district’s 2026

'7 capital, technology and instructional capital budgets.

Tyler (speaker 18) presented three weight-room vendors and recommended Dynamic Fitness and Strength as the low and preferred bidder for weight-room equipment and flooring at $341,940.86; he recommended Duet for classroom furniture at $136,449.83 to match previously purchased fixtures. Board members asked whether Johnson Fitness and Wellness had submitted a complete bid and were told they did not provide a full response. One trustee noted matching furniture was desirable for a uniform look.

A motion to approve the Dynamic and Duet awards (enclosure 15) passed on a roll-call vote with the board recorded as voting in favor. Later in the meeting Tyler and Janet detailed the 2026

'7 caps package (enclosure 16), noting a facilities subtotal of roughly $500,000 for projects that included flooring replacement at Eagle Bluff, playground equipment replacement and piping repairs at Irving Perch, LED lighting upgrades, and several technology refresh items (Chromebook rotations for 9th and 6th grades, fifth-grade Chromebook rotation at the elementary level, and replacement PC modules for interactive displays).

Instructional caps included up to $75,000 for 4K furnishings (district staff said the actual cost is likely to be lower), a continuing $10,000-per-year music-equipment replacement plan and funds to replace aging gymnastics equipment used across elementary schools. "So with your approval or with your deliberation, we're looking for approval for those amounts," Tyler said while presenting the enclosure.

Board members discussed minor aesthetic items (Eagle Bluff flooring color matching) and local touches (the Irving Perch playground fish). Staff said many of the capital items are replacements to extend life and improve efficiency, and that the caps process is new this year to create a systematic replacement cycle.

The bids and caps budgets were approved; board members thanked staff for their work on the procurement and planning.
