Staff outline plan to reduce light-duty vehicle fleet to achieve 10-year replacement cycle

"We estimate that this is gonna be 20 to 25 vehicles our first year," Mr. Shepherd said, adding that the target fleet size is approximately 100 to 110 vehicles over time, which would represent a total reduction of roughly 38 to 48 vehicles from the present fleet of about 148.
Committee members asked about leasing as an alternative; staff said leasing had been explored but was not viewed as cost-efficient over the long term, noting that initial savings could be outweighed by higher costs in years three and four.
The discussion was informational; no formal action was taken at the April 6 meeting.
