School officials say CAP and CIP projects remain on schedule; fourth high school design complete

Mr. Thompson told the Building and Grounds Committee on April 6 that the division's CAP projects are on target and progressing on schedule. "Everything that we have up there is on target and on pace to be done at its appropriate time," he said, and added that the Bass Hoover chiller start-up is nearly complete with only a few control items remaining.

Mr. Shepherd said the design of the fourth high school has been completed and that an invitation for bid was published March 16. "It is due on April the 28th and we're opening it the same day," he said, and noted the pre-bid meeting had good participation from general contractors and subcontractors.

On Middletown Elementary, Mr. Shepherd reported that the board has a contract with Shockey, which has mobilized on site, removed trees to create a construction entrance and plans to place job-site trailers within two to three weeks. He noted the tree removal was done ahead of the April 1 deadline to avoid bat nesting season.

At Jordan Springs, Mr. Shepherd described visible progress: slabs and structural steel are in place in multiple sections, exterior studs and sheathing work has begun, stairs have been installed and crews used spring break to accelerate work. He cautioned the timeline is tight and said the August 7 occupancy target remains critical so modular classrooms can be removed and gym work can begin.

Committee members asked about prequalification and attendance at the voluntary pre-bid meeting for the fourth high school; Mr. Shepherd said seven contractors were prequalified but not all attended the non-mandatory pre-bid session.

The updates were informational; no committee action was taken on these items during the meeting.
