Macomb council approves restaurant liquor license for Wing Spot with parking condition

The Macomb City Council voted to approve a Class R (restaurant) liquor license for Dat/Deet Wing Spot LLC at 928 West Jackson Street after a second reading and a brief exchange about parking for future events.

City staff said the application followed notice procedures: owners within 250 feet were notified, signs were posted at the property and a public hearing was held on July 7; the Macomb Police Department completed a background check of the principal. Mayor and staff then moved the ordinance to a second reading and a vote.

During discussion the business representative, Mr. Patterson, reported he had secured permission from a local officer to use parking “behind his house.” Alderman Dave Dorson pressed for a formal condition on event operations. Dorson moved to amend the approving motion to require that any events not “impact the parking as currently configured” and to require a written agreement with adjacent property owners if additional spaces would be used. The amendment was accepted and the council voted to adopt the ordinance with that condition.

Miss Lambert and the city administrator said enforcement and oversight of the parking condition would be coordinated between the community development/code office and the city administrator’s office. Mr. Patterson acknowledged the condition and agreed to coordinate the required documentation.

The council adopted the ordinance by roll call; the vote was recorded as all members present voting in favor.
