Committee completes final language reviews on moorings, advisory board composition and receives equipment notice

Committee staff presented the final language for LD 2023, a resolve to establish a working group to identify ways to manage moorings on inland waters; the amendment adds two municipal representatives (one from a municipality with a mooring ordinance and one from a municipality without one). The committee adopted the language by unanimous report.
The committee also reviewed and unanimously reported out an amendment to LD 221 to amend the composition of the landowners and land users relations advisory board by specifying that one outdoor recreation representative must be from a snowmobile club.
Deputy Commissioner Tim Peabody briefed the committee on a planned purchase of heavy equipment to be funded from the boating access fund (a portion of the sportsman’s license plate funds). He noted this reporting requirement exists in statute and that the department would provide additional context if members requested it.
