Wellington's board of trustees on Tuesday unanimously adopted Resolution 15-2026 amending the town's consolidated financial management policies. The amendment is administrative: it adds the senior communications and marketing specialist role to an appendix and does not change approval thresholds, limits or controls.
"These are policies, not procedures, establishing guardrails for oversight while allowing staff to manage day-to-day implementation," Finance Director Nick Redavid told the board, outlining the consolidation process that combined previous purchasing, fund balance and financial policy documents into a single manual adopted in January 2026.
Trustees praised the clarity and comprehensiveness of the consolidated policies. Trustee Cannon moved to adopt Resolution 15-2026; Trustee Blackstone seconded the motion. A roll-call vote recorded unanimous approval.
Earlier in the meeting the board also approved the consent agenda, including meeting minutes for April and Resolution 16-2026 (appointments to advisory boards). The clerk announced the consent vote passed on a roll call of trustees.
The adopted financial management policies will guide future capital and operational decision-making; staff noted the policy framework helps when seeking financing, applying for grants and setting budget priorities. Redavid said the full tracked-change version of the January 2026 policies was provided in the meeting packet and that appendix A (personnel/roles) can be updated via consent agenda.
