Cedar Grove board schedules May 20 vote on two-question referendum; approves consent, personnel and special-services items

The Cedar Grove Board of Education set a May 20 meeting to consider adopting a referendum ballot the superintendent said will include two separate questions: one addressing district infrastructure needs and a second focused on reopening LRP as a 3–4–5 school (final project scopes, costs and tax impacts remain pending state approval).
“We are very close to getting a final approval letter from the state so that we can finally go forward with detailed information about the financial impact,” Superintendent Dr. Tmanian said, summarizing recent outreach and the district newsletter update about referendum planning.
Trustees moved and approved routine consent and administrative items in three roll-call votes. Business agenda items G1–G9 passed on a 5–0 roll call (Mr. Alban, Mr. Marzulo, Mr. Pallick, Miss Keegan and Miss Dora voted yes). Superintendent consent items H1–H4 and human-resources items I1–I15 were each approved 5–0. Special-services items J1 and J2 also passed unanimously.
A substantive discussion arose during the human-resources package about I13, a proposed realignment of curriculum and instruction job descriptions. The administration described the change as a realignment of grade coverage: the elementary curriculum director’s span would move from preK–5 to preK–6 while the secondary curriculum director would shift from grades 6–12 to 7–12 to better align support for newly added accelerated middle-school classes.
One board member asked whether passage of referendum question two (reopening LRP) would require revisiting the job-description alignment in the future; the administration said job descriptions are reviewed regularly and could be revised again if grade configurations change.
No formal motion to change job descriptions beyond the items in the personnel consent package was recorded; the board approved the personnel slate as presented.
The board announced future meeting dates and times (May 20 special meeting at 6:00 p.m., with 5:30 p.m. executive session if necessary; June 24 and August 14 at 6:00 p.m.), opened public comment (no speakers), and adjourned.
