District outlines extensive summer projects and flags multi-year pool renovation options

Facilities leaders presented a wide-ranging report on capital and maintenance work completed over the summer and early fall and discussed next steps for a required pool renovation.
Glenn and Anthony (facility leads) showed images and described repairs including brick façade remediation for settlement cracks, new storefront windows and rooftop unit installations, gym ductwork, upgraded classroom unit ventilators, library floor leveling, culinary arts renovation (drain trenching, new floor and grease trap) and replacement of wiring for rooftop units. Custodial teams were singled out for extended work to prepare buildings on tight timelines.
Administrators said the high-school pool has reached the end of its useful life. Officials stated that a full renovation would likely take the pool offline for at least two years, and they presented rental options to sustain programs during construction with illustrative winter-season cost estimates ranging from about $88,000 to $155,000 depending on facility choice. The district also noted rental revenue historically received when the pool is operational (about $45,000 annually from outside rentals) but said that revenue does not fully offset renovation or maintenance costs.
Finance staff said long-range capital planning is underway and that the board will consider detailed project scopes in early 2025; they noted the district has not yet voted to undertake the pool renovation and that a bonding/referendum option could be part of future decisions. Several board members were invited to facility tours scheduled for November.
No binding vote to start a renovation was taken at the meeting; staff said more detailed cost estimates and scope documents will be provided for future board consideration.
