Heather Daniel, the district’s communications director, told the Board that the district redesigned its website and launched an AI chatbot on Sept. 1 as part of the strategic-plan engagement pillar. "We have 2.3 million events on our website," Daniel said, and noted the district had recorded roughly 164,000 active users and that the calendar page was the most visited.
Daniel described initial chatbot usage as "a record breaking 5,000 plus total engagements and 7,300 plus questions," and said the platform's reported accuracy rate was 98 percent. She outlined features that include multi-language support, a feedback rating flow that prompts users who rate experiences poorly to offer improvements, and dashboarding that ties metrics to individual schools.
Dr. Hus, who introduced the engagement update, said the district is using analytics to "work backwards" from what users engage with in order to shape content, and to consider hybrid approaches for outreach such as virtual parent-teacher conferences.
Officials said the communications work will feed into a five-year plan. Daniel told the board the district will pilot ParentSquare to streamline classroom-to-home communications, continue ADA-focused website revisions, and expand subscription feeds so parents can follow individual schools or the district calendar.
Board members praised the rollout and noted additional communication initiatives planned for the coming year, including a superintendent advisory group for students and a superintendent podcast. The district called the website and chatbot metrics "early-stage" results that will guide future improvements.
