Mayor Jane Houston proclaimed Nov. 9–15, 2025, as National Nurse Practitioner Week in San Marcos and called on residents to recognize nurse practitioners’ contributions to health care access and outcomes.
Representatives of Hill Country Nurse Practitioners accepted the proclamation and said they serve central Texas communities, from San Antonio to Austin and beyond, and were grateful to be part of the local health‑care fabric. The representatives noted they have accepted similar recognitions in prior years and emphasized their role in providing primary, acute and specialty care in the region.
The proclamation cited national research and policy group findings about nurse practitioners and urged local recognition; the city did not announce policy changes or funding tied to the proclamation.
