Mayor Jane Houston proclaimed October 2025 as Arbor Month in San Marcos and encouraged residents to plant trees and participate in community events to improve the city’s urban canopy.
Kelly Eie, San Marcos’s urban forester, said the city has kicked off Arbor Month programs that include tree giveaways, school plantings and public tree care events in parks and public facilities. The forester thanked community partners and said the city plans to continue supporting local tree‑planting activities.
No new ordinances or budget allocations were announced in the meeting; city staff framed the proclamation as an invitation to community participation and environmental stewardship.
