The Willoughby-Eastlake City Schools Board approved a broad consent calendar March 9 that included routine financial and operational items across the district.
Treasurer’s report highlights: the district received its tax advance for the month, used liquidated commercial paper to meet cash needs earlier in the fiscal cycle, and reported that the March 1, 2026 payment retired the district’s 2011 qualified school construction bond. The treasurer noted interest yields are falling as higher-yield investments mature.
Grants and accounts: the board accepted multiple grant awards (including STEM toolkits and a $150,000 bus-safety grant to purchase booster chairs and safer restraints for young students), approved a new alumni network account (distinguished alumni association) and several budget purpose statements and purchase-order adjustments for amounts over $3,000.
Capital and facilities items: the board approved a change order with Ameresco to replace eight additional AC units at Royal View after discovering additional scope, and authorized professional design services via RFQ with GPD Group to continue Royal View classroom designs.
Partnerships and trips: the board approved a partnership with Baylor University to host graduate clinical placements and approved field trips for South Wrestling and North Robotics competitions.
Personnel and calendar: the board approved administrative, certified and classified personnel actions and acknowledged the retirement of longtime band teacher Mr. Prima Vera. The next regular board meeting was scheduled for April 13, 2026.
