Board approves consent items, donations and Measure U site work; voters’ bond to fund landscape design

At its April 8 meeting the Carpinteria Unified School District board approved routine consent items, accepted several donations and grants, and authorized Measure U and facilities contracts.
Board approved warrants for March 7–April 3, 2025, in the amount of $1,370,671.17. The board accepted multiple gifts and grant donations including a $12,000 gift to the CHS Engineering Club and a $6,474.60 donation from the Santa Barbara Bowl Foundation for musical instruments. It approved services and repairs for the CHS FFA farm (fence repair and netting) and maintenance contracts to address waste gutters and a heat‑pump replacement at the Pupil Services building; several projects were to be paid from donations, grant funds or restricted accounts.
Under Measure U, the board approved a landscape‑architect proposal (approximately $5,257) to design site improvements for an area at Canalino after portable removal; work will be paid with Measure U bond funds. The board also approved first readings of two policies: BP/AR 1312.2 (complaints concerning instructional materials) and BP/AR 1340 (access to district records).
All routine consent items and listed contracts were approved by motion and roll call during the meeting.
