Bourbon County commissioners debated how to structure an upcoming session that will consider changes to sick- and vacation-time approval and an associated payroll resolution.
One commissioner urged the board to "stick with that plan" — approving payrolls and holding a work session on the proposed personnel changes, with any resolution to be drafted and returned at a later meeting. The commissioner said that if someone wanted to write a resolution based on information gathered at the work session, they could bring it forward at a subsequent meeting.
Other commissioners disagreed about timing, whether employees should be allowed to attend and comment, and whether a vote should be taken the same night. One member said condensing input and drafting a resolution the same day would be rushed; another said the issue had been delayed long enough and they were ready to move.
A motion to keep the original plan was made, seconded, and carried by voice vote. The board clarified that the planned schedule calls for a 5:30 p.m. work session followed by a 7:00 p.m. regular meeting; agenda items noted for the meeting include a payroll resolution, accounts payable and tax corrections.
