New Berlin School Board approves personnel and transfer items after closed session

Miss Crosby moved to adjourn into closed session, and Mr. Zinsky seconded the motion. The board approved the motion by roll-call vote; Miss Crosby, Mr. Zinsky, Mr. Helmer, Miss Schultz, Mr. Cidle and Miss Spindler each voted "yes." The board returned to open session around 7:00 p.m.
After returning to open session, the board took several actions by motion and voice vote. Mr. Cidle moved and Mr. Helmer seconded approval of the consent agenda, which included approval of the Feb. 23 meeting minutes, the Woodland Conference shared services agreement and the Spain 2027 field trip; the motion passed by show of hands.
The board approved an annual Chapter 220 interdistrict transfer agreement with MPS to allow a remaining student to continue participation in the program. District staff explained the Chapter 220 arrangement is an annual statutory agreement that permits students to attend other area districts and noted one seventh-grade student remains in the program; the board approved the agreement upon motion by Mr. Cidle and second by Mr. Helmer.
From items originating in closed session, Miss Spindler moved and Miss Crosby seconded approval of the employment services report; the motion passed by voice vote. The board also approved employee compensation and benefits for the 2026–27 school year on a motion by Miss Crosby, seconded by Mr. Zinsky. Board members were told the superintendent contract will be brought to a vote at the next meeting.
The chair reviewed upcoming meeting dates (March 23; April 13; April 27) and key calendar items. Mr. Cidle moved to adjourn; Mr. Helmer seconded and the meeting was adjourned.
