Park Foundation says it will dedicate $5,000 to Lacey, highlights grants and partnership work

Heather Anton, chief executive officer of the Park Foundation of Thurston County, briefed the Lacey Parks Board on May 6 about the foundation's partnership role and grant activity. "We invested 100,000 in community grants and overall we've delivered more than 900,000 into the community," Anton said, adding that roughly 72% of the foundation's funding goes directly to community programs.
Anton explained that the foundation sets aside a dedicated municipal allocation for partner cities and that for Lacey the committed amount is $5,000. "For a Lacey, that's $5,000. We set it aside," Anton said, describing the foundation's process of confirming uses with city staff and making final awards after the Park Foundation board meeting in late May.
Anton described the foundation's typical support as threefold: grant funding, scholarship/financial-assistance support, and partnership development with nonprofits and businesses to expand program capacity. She gave examples of recent Lacey partnerships, including a $5,000 contribution to Rainier Vista pickleball courts and funding for recreation financial assistance programs.
Board members asked about application timing and how the funds are allocated; Anton said the municipal allotment for partner cities is set by the foundation and that additional countywide grant rounds also distribute funds to community organizations. No formal board action was taken at the meeting; staff will coordinate with Anton and the foundation on the allocation when the foundation board issues its final decisions later in May.
