Council approves CivicPlus website contract to modernize city services and FOIA handling

Staff described features that would streamline FOIA requests by creating automated acknowledgments and routing, enable online payments and make planning and permitting information easier to locate. The mayor and council members said the change would address resident complaints about navigating the current site and would be mobile-friendly; staff estimated implementation to take roughly six to eight months.
Council approved the procurement by roll call during the meeting and directed staff to proceed with contract execution and project planning. Staff noted the platform could also help flag frequently requested information so it can be published proactively on the site to reduce repeated FOIA requests.
What happens next: Staff will finalize contract details with CivicPlus and begin the design and content-transfer process, with an implementation timeline that expects a live site within 6–8 months.
