The Finance and Insurance Committee voted to forward two related items to the full board: a sublease agreement with the University of Wisconsin–Green Bay Manitowoc County to house district alternative programs, and a memorandum of understanding (MOU) between the district and UWGB describing access and use.
Staff and the superintendent said the arrangement was negotiated collaboratively with UWGB and county representatives and reviewed by district counsel and the district's commercial insurer. The sublease covers space on the UWGB Manitowoc campus; staff identified seven rooms at the hillside location that would be used for alternative programming but noted special-education placements and some lease details still required final negotiation because the district is currently under a different lease for some programs.
Staff emphasized that the MOU clarifies access to common areas but that UWGB's checkout policies govern the use of larger spaces such as the library and gym. The committee moved and seconded both the sublease and the MOU and voted to send them to the full Board of Education for final approval.
