Wayne Board honors teachers and educational service professionals with Governor’s Educator of the Year awards

Dr Lauren Kasbar explained that winners who opted for county consideration — including Kimberly Larsy, Deborah Mahoney and Katherine Pritchard — were invited to submit applications to advance in the county selection process.
Rob Sardi, who identified himself as the Wayne Education Association president, told the audience the awards reflect the honorees’ ‘‘passion, commitment and profound impact’’ on students, urging recipients to ‘‘sit with’’ the recognition. A district administrator who spoke later thanked teachers for the unseen hours and classroom work that shape student outcomes.
Students and colleagues applauded dozens of named recipients during the ceremony, which included classroom teachers, media specialists, nurses and paraprofessionals from schools across the Wayne Township Public School District. The board said it would hold a short recess after the presentations for photographs.
