The Hutchinson Reno County Chamber of Commerce announced a public information session on data‑center development for March 11 at 11 a.m. at the Stringer Fine Arts Center.
Deborah Tuful, chamber president, said the event — organized with Greater Hutch and recorded for later posting — aims to provide a broad range of perspectives from state and industry speakers, explain energy and water considerations and give residents a chance to ask questions. She said keynote speakers will include a Kansas Department of Commerce official and an Evergy external affairs representative; the chamber has invited industry supply‑chain representatives, local manufacturers and small developers to participate.
Tuful said the chamber will collect questions in advance via QR code on a flyer and asked the public to register so the organizers can plan capacity. "We would like them to speak to that and provide some context," she said of invited speakers, adding the event will encourage a moderated dialogue to "dispel myths" and help residents weigh factors when discussing potential data‑center projects.
Council members and staff encouraged residents to attend; the session is intended to be informational and recorded for future reference.
