Ordinance adoption: The board adopted ordinance 2026-1663 (second reading) to amend Title 2, Chapter 2.58 of the Douglas County Code to change the Airport Advisory Committee''s chair and vice-chair election from March to the first meeting of the calendar year. Heather McDell, airport manager, described the ordinance as a procedural "cleanup" to ease election timing and reduce gaps in leadership. Commissioner Hails moved adoption; Commissioner Turkanian seconded. The motion passed 5 to 0.
Grant approved: The board approved a One Nevada opioid funding grant of $21,686 to the Tahoe Douglas Fire Protection District to purchase a BD MedBank mini system (hardware, software, licensing and technical support) to securely store and manage narcotics after the DEA advised the district it could not keep narcotics in California. Community Services Director Brooke 80 said the request aligns with the county''s needs assessment for opioid-settlement funds and that state partners had confirmed the purchase was allowable. Chief Chris Lucas was present to answer questions. Commissioner Rice moved the grant; Commissioner Tarcanian seconded. The motion passed 5 to 0, and the board authorized the community services director to prepare and sign the grant funding agreement.
