The board unanimously authorized staff to sign an agreement allowing VDOT to install and maintain permitted flashing school speed-zone signage at Ferry Farm Elementary School and North Stafford High School, and confirmed that the division owns and operates the signs under permit in the right of way.
Jason Towry of facilities explained the signs operate during arrival and dismissal hours and that recent community concern near Ferry Farm prompted a VDOT study that supported implementing speed-reduction measures. The board clarified that the agreement preserves existing signage and timing and does not change posted speed limits.
Board members thanked the constituent who raised the Ferry Farm concern and the facilities staff for coordinating with law enforcement and VDOT. The motion passed unanimously.
