The City of Live Oak council approved final reading of four land-use and zoning ordinances covering small-scale map and zoning changes.
Ordinance 1554 (CPA 26-01), a small-scale future land use amendment for about 0.74 acres, was approved on final reading after staff noted planning-and-zoning had previously recommended approval. Ordinance 1555, a zoning change of roughly 0.22 acres from single-family to commercial neighborhood to align an adjacent vacant lot with an existing gas station, was approved on final reading after residents asked about proposed uses and staff and the property owner said current plans are to keep the lot vacant while using it to satisfy green-space requirements. George Carter, development manager, said the rezoning would allow the owner to combine the parcels so the site can meet impervious-area/green-space ratios needed for permits and potentially add coolers to the convenience store.
Ordinances 1556 (convert RSF/MH-2 to residential office RO) and 1557 (convert commercial general CG to commercial intensive CI for about 0.83 acres) were presented for final reading with no public opposition and were approved. No additional conditions were recorded in the transcript excerpt. Staff also noted that three additional first-reading ordinances were omitted from the originally distributed agenda packet and would be addressed as first readings later in the meeting.
The approvals put the four ordinances on record as having passed final reading; administrative follow-up (permits, site plans and conformity with development regulations) remains necessary before physical changes occur.
