Garfield council introduces three ordinances and schedules March 11 final hearings

The Garfield Mayor and Council on Feb. 25 introduced three ordinances on first reading and set final hearings for March 11, 2025.
The measures include Ordinance 3057, which amends administrative legislation for the fire department; Ordinance 3058, which updates salary, wages and compensation for certain city officers and employees; and Ordinance 3059, which adjusts street-cleaning and parking-time rules around School No. 6 to align with other school-area regulations. Council members said the parking changes are intended to reduce disruption to teachers' parking during school hours.
In procedural action, Deputy Mayor Kevin Kane moved adoption of the introductions and Council member Delany seconded. The items passed on unanimous roll-call votes. The council recorded affirmative votes from Council member Regoso, Council member Aaron Delaney (listed in roll call as Delany/Delaney), Deputy Mayor Kevin Kane, Deputy Mayor Raymond and Mayor Garo.
All three ordinances were advertised for final hearing and will be considered at the March 11 meeting; members of the public will have an opportunity to speak at that hearing, officials said.
The council also completed second reading and final passage of Ordinance 3056, which increases membership on the events committee. No members of the public spoke specifically on that ordinance during the required public hearing at this meeting.
The clerk was authorized to publish legal notices as required by law. No changes to the ordinances’ substance were made at first reading.
