County approves application for $38,757.12 body‑camera grant for sheriff's patrol

Sheriff Quinn Ree briefed the board: the application would fund replacement of body cameras signed out to the patrol division; the department plans to repurpose the best of the current cameras for the jail. He said staff recently met with Motorola to review a lower-cost shoulder-microphone camera that might be substituted depending on the compatibility of the county’s radio project.
"All of the body cameras that are signed out to the patrol division — this would replace them all," the sheriff said. He noted corrections supervisors already have cameras and that the department would add equipment to the jail where feasible.
A motion to approve the application received a second and passed by voice vote; no public opposition was recorded.
