Temple City urges caution as gale‑force winds continue; crews staged, no emergency declared

The city manager gave an on-the-record status update: city field crews were staged at the corporate yard and would respond to life‑safety calls when conditions permitted, while LA County Sheriff and Fire would assist on priority incidents. "Life safety is the biggest priority right now for us," the manager said, urging residents to remain indoors and to call 911 for emergencies.
The manager provided the sheriff's business line for nonemergency requests, 626‑285‑7171, and said the city’s business line and staff would continue to update the council through the evening and into the morning. He said some city staff were patrolling parts of the city but that most crews were hunkered down until winds moderated; National Weather Service forecasts indicated strong winds in the San Gabriel Valley through about 4:00 a.m.
Officials said there was no declaration of emergency for Temple City at that time. Councilmembers offered New Year greetings and reiterated safety reminders: avoid downed power lines, report life‑threatening situations to 911 and let utility/fire professionals handle downed wires.
The city will continue to prioritize life safety and clear other debris as conditions permit.
