The board’s moving committee outlined a detailed calendar for relocating to the new Hampton County high school and continuing activity at the old campus.
Committee chair Miss Coasia presented inspection and move milestones: the kitchen hood DHEC inspection and the South Carolina LLR elevator inspection were reported as approved April 30; large-equipment moves and staged classroom set-ups are scheduled for mid-May through early June. Two Men and a Truck has been hired to move boxed teacher materials, and the committee plans staged walkthroughs and photography with district staff.
Key dates announced include teachers packing classrooms by June 4, staged teacher setup days July 27–30 (paid), equipment and piano moves July 13–16, a ribbon-cutting scheduled for July 9 from 9 a.m. to noon, community open houses July 22–23, and student registration at the new high school on Aug. 4. The committee also listed summer athletic and community events that will take place across both campuses during the transition.
Staff and board members discussed traffic patterns and the sheriff’s office was asked to coordinate with school staff and the transportation coordinator to finalize routing. Committee members noted some calendar items (festivals and event dates) were discussed with minor inconsistencies and said final confirmations would be posted in the calendar provided to board members.
The board received the moving plan as information and will use the committee calendar to guide next steps through ribbon-cutting and opening.
