Board representative Joe Drozda identified recipient organizations and partners: Pillars Community Health, Helping Hands Center, Aging Care Connections, Community Support Services, Thrive Counseling Center, UCP Seguin, the Village of Riverside social worker, Way Back Inn, and WSSRA (West Suburban Special Recreation Association). Drozda said the board has reorganized its grant application process, started a community engagement committee and hosted an event ("The Kids Aren't All Right") to examine pandemic impacts on youth mental health.
A motion to accept the Mental Health Board’s report was moved, seconded and approved by voice vote. During discussion Supervisor comments emphasized the value of the township’s Community Resource Center for seniors and residents who need in-person assistance navigating services.
The board noted it intends to brief the township board in greater depth about its role and grant process in a future meeting.
