Belvidere committee authorizes mayor to sign second amendment with Metro Paramedic Services; contract capped at 3% annual increase

Belvidere’s Committee of the Whole voted March 24 to authorize the mayor to execute a second amendment to the city’s five-year agreement with Metro Paramedic Services for ambulance staffing, vehicles and EMS equipment.
Chief Shadel told the committee the five-year agreement caps annual price increases at 3% unless unusual external circumstances (for example, law changes that drastically change operating costs) occur. The amendment reflects a 3% increase for the current year and is the third time the amendment process has been used under the contract.
Alderman Stevens moved and Alderman Peterson seconded a motion to authorize the mayor to execute the second amendment with Metro Paramedic Services, Inc.; the committee voted in favor and the motion passed.
Chief Shadel said he would provide any additional contract documentation requested by council and that the amendment will be reflected in forthcoming council agenda materials for final action and implementation details.
