District outlines summer construction and HVAC projects, stadium upgrades and a GHSA rifle-range project

Muscogee County School District construction officials on May 11 presented a slate of capital projects and status updates for work scheduled this summer and next fiscal year.
Construction committee member Cantrell described recommendations to hire Peach Engineering to evaluate and design HVAC replacement projects at Baker and Fort Middle Schools and to use the construction-manager-at-risk delivery method for those HVAC projects. The committee also recommended awarding a CMAR contract to Carol Daniel Construction Company for upgrades at Double Churches Elementary and Middle Schools (East Plus-funded).
Travis Anderson, the district's chief operations officer, and Ward Odom presented a slideshow showing active and near-term projects: enclosure and bus-loop security work at Northside High School; demolition and reconstruction of visitor and home-side bleachers at Connette Stadium with handrail and bleacher installation in coming weeks; Rothschild (future Chris Cox) gym foundation and exterior wall work with completion targeted for winter 2026–27; auditorium upgrades at several schools; and parking-lot and roof replacements across multiple sites.
The agenda also included a district request to evaluate and oversee the design of a Georgia High School Association (GHSA) competition rifle-range project; presenters said the rifle-range project is East Blas/EastPlus-funded and would be overseen by selected architects and construction managers. Board members asked whether rifle-range work was limited to a gym remodel (Saint Mary's Elementary gym) or part of a larger overhaul; staff said Saint Mary's will be transformed to add administrative and program space and the gym work supports athletics.
