Village officials said Cary hosted a resources fair in coordination with the Red Cross and McHenry County Emergency Management Agency to help residents affected by recent regional flooding.
Chief Hayes told the board the county contacted Cary about hosting a one‑stop resource event; organizers ran two locations the prior week and Cary hosted the Saturday event with "over a dozen" providers offering services ranging from disaster assistance to insurance consultations. The chief said roughly a dozen residents attended Cary's session and received services or consults.
Public works also reported several routine spring services: curbside brush pickup on a phased schedule (north side this week, south side next week), biannual hydrant flushing, and a community cleanup day set for June 6 at 8:30 a.m. at Alfresco Alley. Assistant staff also reminded residents of an evening event with the mayor and police chief on May 14.
The chief characterized the resources fair as a success and said county partners were grateful the village offered its facility to host.
