Carroll County holds public hearing on proposed FY2027 budget; adoption set for May 21

The Carroll County Board of Commissioners held a public hearing on May 6 to take testimony on the proposed fiscal year 2027 operating and capital budgets, enterprise funds and proposed utility rates. Commissioners President Joe Vigliotti opened the hearing and turned the meeting to Ted Zeleleski, director of the Department of Management and Budget, who described the materials available online and the procedures for public comment.

Zeleleski listed the major budget categories and enterprise funds that the proposed FY27 budget addresses, including operating and capital budgets, the grant fund, pension and other postemployment benefit funds, and several enterprise funds (utilities, solid waste, airport, septage, firearms and the county's fiber network). He also reviewed proposed water and sewer usage rates and said that commissioners will hold a budget work session on May 12 and adopt the budget on May 21 at 9 a.m.
