Officials noted that suspended taxes become due if a property is sold or circumstances change.
The board then approved a Class C alcoholic liquor license for Iowa G LLC and a retail tobacco license for Al’s Corner; both items were moved, seconded and carried by voice vote with no extended discussion.
On a more substantive item, the board set a public hearing for TNT Sharpen Damp Farms’ construction-permit application. County staff said the expansion includes a master matrix and involves adding a new 280-head deep pit cattle confinement unit and expanded feed length. Staff recommended publishing the hearing notice before May 11, proposing publication on May 8 and scheduling the hearing for May 18 at 9:00 a.m.; the board approved that schedule.
Why this matters: the construction-permit hearing will allow the public to review and comment on the proposed concentrated animal feeding operation (CAFO)-style expansion and the board to evaluate the master matrix required for such permits.
