Dina, speaking for the assessment office, said the Department of Revenue's tentative multiplier would be negative one and that Edgar County's assessment level is approximately 3.39% higher than the target. She explained that Paris Township carries about 35% of the county's equalized assessed value (EAV), which disproportionately affects the county multiplier. Dina said appeals of assessments are being accepted in the office or by postmark through May 4; she noted that last year the board received about 60 appeals out of roughly 18,300 parcels and that this year appeals were in the '20s so far with several weeks remaining.
Dina described the state's role in the formula and said the county can refine assessments by township to be more precise than a blanket, countywide adjustment. Board members asked about the timing for board‑of‑review sessions; staff said appeals review would begin within days to keep the process moving toward August.
