El Monte board recognizes Teacher of the Year, Lor School as California Distinguished, and student American Legion awardees

Florencio Briones, president of the El Monte Union High School District Board of Trustees, presented certificates to Principal Adriana Garcia and Lor staff and praised the cross-district partnership that serves students who feed into the high school district.
American Legion Post 8 veterans joined the meeting to present the American Legion Award to students at multiple elementary and middle schools; the board read winners and honorable mentions from Columbia, Dery, Gidley, Potredo, Rio Hondo and Frank Wright and invited recipients and families to photographs and refreshments.
The recognitions were celebratory and informational; no formal board action was required for the awards themselves.
