St. Joseph County commissioners approved a series of routine consent items during their April 7 meeting.
The board approved the accounts payable docket and voted to appoint Michelle Cherates to the Hospital Authority of St. Joseph County. The prosecutor's office received approval to hire Jesse Dwis—currently a child support case worker—as an independent contractor to clean the sixth‑floor child support offices in the evenings at $25 an hour for roughly eight hours per week; Bob Risenhoover identified himself in the meeting as the prosecutor's director of finance and budget.
Richard Warfield, the county IT director, asked the board to approve the annual Microsoft 365 licensing subscription through Elevate Technology Partners (quoted via Omnia Partners); he said the renewal is budgeted. Warfield also sought and received approval to contract temporary IT staff through T Tek Systems to address bandwidth and workload needs; he said the positions are budgeted and that past budget requests for permanent staffing had been denied. The recorder's routine Laredo agreement with VS Engineering to permit access to records was also approved.
All consent items on the agenda passed by unanimous roll call. Commissioners discussed raising IT staffing in the upcoming county budget process but made no immediate supplemental appropriation during the meeting.
