Superintendent outlines strategic‑plan monitoring and reports Mori High gas‑line repair

Superintendent Vivano told the Moriarty‑Edgewood School District Board on Sept. 17 that the administration will develop a progress‑monitoring calendar to track implementation of the district’s strategic plan and present regular data to the board.

Vivano said the calendar is meant to provide transparency and recurring updates on priority goals, including student outcomes and 90‑day plans. He suggested work sessions to refine monitoring points and noted the district will present targeted reports during future meetings.

On facilities, Vivano reported crews had dug a trench to replace a natural gas line feeding Mori High School. Administrators located the main 4‑inch line, separated systems so the kitchen could be isolated, and planned pressure testing of the replacement before reconnecting to the main line. The goal, as stated at the meeting, was to have gas service restored by Friday; the administration said the Performing Arts Center and gyms were on a separate system and were not affected during the temporary outage.

Board members asked clarifying questions about the repair timeline and assurances the crew would ensure tracer wires and tape were applied appropriately going forward. The superintendent said maintenance staff had added precautionary markings and that future digs would be done with proper locating procedures.

The board did not vote on new policy during the superintendent’s report; the discussion focused on implementing the existing strategic plan and on operational steps to complete the gas‑line repair.
