Laura Toth of Senior and Adult Services updated the board on senior programming and capital improvements.
Toth said the Brunswick Senior Expo drew about 300 attendees and more than 70 vendors, and she noted community support including commissioners’ attendance. She described a recent sock hop event that drew senior interest and said the program has been well covered locally.
Toth reported that elevator construction at the human services center is in its ninth week and that a new generator has been installed and is expected to be hooked into the kitchen the following day. She said the generator was specified to have the capacity to run the kitchen so staff can prepare home‑delivered meals and continue route operations during prolonged power outages.
Toth also said a courtyard pavilion built by an Eagle Scout in 2013 is nearing the end of its useful life; maintenance will keep it usable temporarily while the department develops plans (paid for by the Senior and Adult Foundation) for a more permanent structure. She reminded commissioners that Medina County Senior Day is scheduled for Wednesday, May 20, at the Medina County Fairgrounds and said the farmers market nutrition program will again provide $50 credits to income‑qualified seniors, assisted by local partners for application support.
Toth said she will be on vacation for part of next month but will return for sessions related to the senior farmers market program and Senior Day promotion.
