Board approves satisfactory evaluation and extends superintendent’s contract through 2028

The Merced City School District board announced it had approved a satisfactory evaluation of Superintendent Juliana Stalking for the 2024–25 school year and extended her contract by one year, moving the agreement's new end date to June 30, 2028. The board reported the vote as unanimous.
Trustees said the extension reflected continuing collaboration between district leadership and the board to support students, staff and families. The announcement noted that ‘‘any additional changes to the superintendent agreement, including salary increases, will be approved by the board in an open session at a future regular meeting.’’
Board members made no changes to compensation at the June 10 meeting; they recorded the personnel evaluation outcome and extension as the formal action coming out of closed session. The district said it looks forward to continued partnership as it implements the coming year’s initiatives.
What’s next: the agreement length is now publicly set through mid‑2028 and any contractual financial adjustments will be presented to the board in open session for approval.
