The Warrick County Solid Waste Management District on Feb. 19 authorized the controller to correct a retirement contribution discrepancy for an employee hired in 2015 by back-paying the missing PERF contributions, with authority capped at $1,500.
The controller explained the error stemmed from a mismatch between the employee—s hire date and the date PERF recognized for benefit calculation, which resulted in an uncredited 90-day period. The controller estimated the cost would be between $700 and $900 but requested authorization to make the payment up to $1,500 to ensure prompt correction. The board voted 4-0 to grant the authority; the controller said the expense will appear in next meeting—s claims list with a description noting it applies to 2015.
