The Board of Commissioners voted Aug. 6 to amend the town's traffic-control map to extend a no-parking zone on the east side of South Wrightsville to the intersection of East Driftwood Street.
Chief Hail said recent months saw an increase in vehicle parking along that stretch tied to a nearby business and that property owners reported sign damage and other issues. "I've already spoken to the business there, let them know that this would be coming before the board," Chief Hail said, adding that property owners had contacted shift officers and had been told to email him about the issue.
Commissioners asked whether property owners had been notified; staff confirmed outreach had occurred since the July meeting. The motion to amend the traffic-control map was made, seconded and approved by voice vote.
What happens next: Public works will update signage and the town will notify affected property owners of the change. Staff said the business is exploring alternative parking options and the amendment applies to the east side only.
Votes and process: The board approved the amendment by voice vote; no roll-call tallies were recorded in the transcript.
