District leaders presented the revised plan, noting it realigns district goals and updates an accompanying scorecard to measure progress. Superintendent Dr. Serrano said staff had revised the plan to reflect board‑approved district goals and to move the academic goal to the top priority. "We have made significant progress," Dr. Serrano said in presenting the revisions.
Trustees asked staff to make several clarifying edits before final publication: add an explicit bullet noting site‑level safety and implementation of school safety/site plans; include current baseline percentages where the plan lists percentage improvement targets; and make career pathways a clearer, explicit action in the document. Board members debated whether an attendance goal should be adjusted; staff said the 1% decrease in chronic absenteeism reflected trend analysis but remained open to revising targets.
A motion to approve the revised strategic plan passed on a voice vote. Staff said they would incorporate the requested clarifications (site‑level safety language, baseline metrics, career‑pathway language and specific action steps such as data chats) and return final materials for public access.
The board indicated the plan will guide district action items on academic excellence, learning acceleration, school climate and long‑term planning for the 2025–26 school year and beyond.
