The Post Falls City Council approved three annexation requests and confirmed a parks commission appointment during its regular meeting.
North Chase Place: Associate Planner Justin Souder presented an annexation request for roughly five acres at the southwest corner of Chase Road and Fiser Avenue to be annexed into the city and zoned R1 (single‑family). Staff clarified sewer service can now be provided to the entire site after elevation adjustments to meet city minimum grade requirements, allowing development to start sooner than waiting for the Fiser lift station upgrades. Applicant representative Merl Van Hton said the R1 subdivision would yield about 20 single‑family lots consistent with adjacent R1 and R1S neighborhoods. Frank Pratt, representing the homeowners’ association south of the site, said the HOA owns an emergency‑access tract and urged better communication and traffic calming (including a mid‑street traffic calming device) before the project proceeds. City staff and the applicant explained there is an existing easement giving the city limited rights for public access and that more detailed platting and design discussions with the HOA will follow. Council approved the annexation and assigned R1 zoning by unanimous roll call.
Fiser lift station: Planning Manager John Manley presented a separate annexation of approximately 0.51 acres the city already owns to facilitate relocation and upsizing of the Fiser lift station; the parcel will be assigned R1 zoning consistent with nearby parcels. Staff said the change is consistent with the comprehensive plan and supports sewer capacity and future transportation improvements. There was no public comment; council approved the annexation and zoning.
Public Works site: Council also approved annexing roughly 16 acres for an industrial zoning designation to support a future public works facility and a potential park site. Staff said much of the acreage is currently county land and infrastructure is limited nearby, but the annexation secures a site the city may need for utilities or park acquisition in the future. Council approved the annexation and assigned industrial zoning.
Appointment: The council confirmed Dana Repan to the Parks and Recreation Commission after she described three decades of public‑sector planning and park planning experience.
All three annexations and the appointment passed on roll call votes.
