A councilor said earlier budget estimates had anticipated an $80,000 price when planning the fire station; staff reported the vendor price came in at $56,862.
A constituent asked whether architects could provide a list of items omitted from construction plans with cost estimates; council members supported receiving that list so the full scope of items necessary to make the station operational is clear. One speaker emphasized the approved purchase is grant-funded and "not going to affect the cost of the fire station," noting that allocation from the grant keeps the expense off the station's construction budget.
The motion to authorize the purchase was moved, seconded and approved by voice vote.
