North Brunswick Board honors students, coaches and educators at May 6 meeting

The meeting opened with a memorial scholarship presentation: members of the theater community introduced the Caroli Wulmarmac Memorial Scholarship to celebrate Carol (Caroli) Wulmarmac's contributions to the Alchemist theater company; staff and alumni donations were cited as funding sources.
Athletic recognitions: Athletic director Sha Morell and coaches presented winter-season and seasonal awards. Highlights included: - Bowling: Coach Amy McCormack recognized a senior (Josh) who improved from a 128 average as a sophomore to a 198 seasonal average and placed 10th in the GMC individual tournament. - Swimming: Vivian Turpp was named girls MVP (119 points this season) and plans to attend Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute for aerospace engineering. - Wrestling: Coach Sally celebrated an undefeated boys Blue Division championship and back-to-back girls Red Division titles; several wrestlers qualified for regionals and won county medals. - Track: The administration highlighted multiple state-recognized athletes (Jamal Wilmont, Michael Perry, Anniia Hall and others) and noted the team's strong statewide standings.
Educator and support staff awards: Assistant Superintendent Amy Kea and building administrators presented teacher-of-the-year and educational support person recognitions across schools. Named honorees included Rose Norsha (MBTHs teacher of the year), Barbara Williams (educational support person of the year) and dozens of building-level winners at John Adams, Jud, Livingston Park, Parsons and the Early Childhood Center.
Several presenters and administrators emphasized the long-term, non-classroom contributions of support staff, citing examples such as custodial and plant-manager work that maintain daily operations.
The board recessed briefly for an intermission to celebrate award winners; no policy actions were tied to the recognitions.
Next steps and events: Superintendent Zakowski reminded the community of upcoming spring events and noted a Juneteenth celebration planned for June 14 at the municipal complex in partnership with the township.
