He estimated the first (most complex) block would cost between about $75,000 and $99,000 once materials and service tie-ins are included, and said the city has approximately $350,000 budgeted for water-main replacements.
Thorberg noted the work would be staged, with the initial southern block (15th to 16th) and the tie to a cross-connection as priorities to create a looped main. He said staff would notify residents in advance and coordinate service relocations. Commissioners indicated budgeted funds and staff availability supported beginning the work.
Next steps: staff will proceed with procurement and scheduling, subject to parts availability and winter ground conditions. The commission offered no objection to starting the prioritized block.
