Goodland commission approves grants, property actions and project pay estimates

The commission approved Resolution 1648 authorizing the mayor to sign paperwork for four Kansas state and local government cybersecurity grants, totaling roughly $110,000. Staff said the awards will pay for mobile data terminals for police, a high-capacity server, NAS storage and upgrades to wireless building links.
The commission approved Resolution 1649 concerning the property at 321 Broadway after a brief public hearing that drew no public comment. The commission also amended and approved Resolution 1650 for the structure at 508 West 15, extending the compliance period to 90 days to allow the owner time to address code issues.
Public works staff summarized Change Order No. 1 for the Calwell cost-share project, reporting a net decrease in the contract because an unexpectedly sound subgrade reduced patching needs even as some widening work added cost. The commission approved the change order and then approved pay estimate No. 1 for that project.
The commission also approved pay estimate No. 4 for the industrial park improvements; staff reported concrete and paving work are nearly complete with minor remaining sanitary sewer tie-ins.
