Michigan City special events staff previewed a busy 2026 calendar on Access LaPorte County, highlighting a mix of family events, concerts, racing and festivals through the fall.
Eric Williams, Michigan City special events coordinator, said the Michigan City Food and Music Festival is scheduled for May 23–24 and will include roughly 20 food trucks; the event is presented in partnership with Harbor Country Adventures, which runs the Live at the Lakefront concert series.
Early summer items mentioned include a June 10 listing (context not fully specified), a Patriotic Parade on or around June 19, and the Braden Family Fun Day on June 27. Williams confirmed a Fourth of July fireworks show and described the Singing Sands Sand Sculpting Festival as a multi-day July event (hosts said it will run three days, the 17th–19th). The Great Lakes Grand Prix race week is slated for July 29–August 2. Oktoberfest is scheduled for Labor Day weekend, Sept. 4–7; Williams said 80–85% of about 50 bands are already confirmed for that festival.
Williams and the host emphasized that much of the event planning begins the previous September and October, with staff arranging street closures, vendor registration and band bookings well in advance. They encouraged residents to check Michigan City special events for more information and for any date or scheduling updates.
