City staff gave a mid-survey update on Feb. 18: about 385 households had started the 2026 community satisfaction survey and 364 had completed it, representing roughly a 7% household response rate from the approximately 5,000 postcards mailed. Staff asked commissioners to push outreach through their networks as the survey approaches its closing date.
David provided the numbers and described an active video-promotion campaign. He said the first short video (with two police officers and the chief) has about 5,900 views; another video featuring Bill and Britney had roughly 2,100 views. Staff are running additional short videos and a prize-based push (local golf-simulator time and other local-prize draws) intended to increase final response counts.
Commissioners asked why the commission had limited input into this year's survey instrument; staff replied the current mailing and campaign were already in motion and that some changes (a shorter survey) had been implemented. Commissioners requested clearer early consultation in future survey cycles.
Separately, the commission discussed event planning: the library stepped back from organizing Touch a Truck because of staffing, and Parks & Arts will run the event (planned for a Friday 3–7 p.m. kickoff). Commissioners volunteered to help with logistics and suggested adding a sensory-friendly first hour for children with sensitivities, citing a successful model used in another community.
Next steps: staff encouraged commissioners to recruit neighbors to complete the survey during the final days; Parks staff and volunteers will continue planning Touch a Truck and Fourth of July outreach with partner groups (Rotary and others).
The commission will revisit survey results after the closing date and review the recommended deployment of any outreach or prize winners.
